Back for the third time to serve, Gloria B. Buya-ao is installed today as Schools Division Superintendent of DepEd Kalinga.
Her first assignment in the Division was in 2018 to 2019, a time remembered for her hands-on leadership and commitment to grassroots initiatives. She returned briefly in May 2023, further deepening her connection to the communities and schools she served. Now she comes back with hope to retire in here in the next few years to come.
Her familiarity with the culture and the challenges of Kalinga’s education system gives her a unique advantage. But more than that, her heart for the learners has earned her the trust of many.
Everything that we do is always anchored to the child.”
With these powerful and heartfelt words, Ms. Buya-ao formally accepted her role as the new Schools Division Superintendent of Kalinga. Her installation was a celebration of an old face yet a new leadership.

Ms. Buya-ao’s guiding principle is both simple and profound: the child must always come first.
She was installed by the Regional Director, Estela P. Leon- Cariño and was witnessed by the School Heads of DepEd Kalinga, non-teaching personnel, Mr. Regie WAcas representing Congresswoman Caroline B. Agyao, Atty. Priel P. Balnao representing Gov. James S. Edduba, visitors from DepEd Ifugao, SDS Benedicta Gamatero and ASDS Jan Nowel Peña of DepEd Tabuk City, ASDS Virginia Batan, and SDS Soraya Faculo of Baguio City.
