Tabuk City, Kalinga – Some 4,400 delegates from the 10 districts of Kalinga and the City of Tabuk are expected to participate in the 2017 Provincial Athletic Meet on Nov. 18-23.

Kalinga Division Physical Education and School Sports (PESS) Coordinator, Alfredo D. Budaden said the preparation for this event is 90% done as the committees have prepared earlier the playing venues, program, billeting schools, and the medics.

Prior to the parade and the opening program on November 19, a solidarity meeting is set in the morning at the Kalinga Sports Centre where Hon. James Edduba, Acting Governor and Guest Speaker, shall express his words of challenge to the officiating officials, sports coordinators, and coaches.

Sports games to be played on Nov. 20 – 23 are arnis, jumping events, throwing events, badminton, baseball, basketball, billiard, chess, futsal, gymnastics sepaktakraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, boxing, wushu, wrestling, and indigenous events.

Budaden expects that the playing of games will run well.

“The progress of the games should be played smoothly and successfully and that everyone should be safe all throughout the duration of this athletic meet,” he said.

All players and their coaches are expected to arrive in the billeting schools tomorrow.
