Be a significant instrument for transformation, in bringing out the learners’ leadership potential and in inculcating in their hearts the passion of service. This is what the YFC-SGOD of Kalinga Division wants to instill in the heart of youth leaders.

The Schools Governance and Operations Division(SGOD) Youth Formation Section conducted a capability building and leadership seminar to organiz ations of selected Teacher-Advisers of Kalinga elementary and secondary schools, District Supreme Pupil Government(SPG), Supreme Student Government(SSG), and School Clubs/Organizations from August 27-28, 2018, at the Catrina Hall, Davidson Kingsquare Hotel and Restaurant, Bulanao, Tabuk City.

The training aimed at strengthening a pool and bonded community of public school student leaders and advisers who continuously perform the duty to excel and to lead. To ensure continues capability building for the SPG,SSG, the school clubs and teacher-advisers organization are encouraged to enhance their organizational management skills and revisit particularly the establishment of the Division, Regional and National Association of Teacher-Advisers as mechanism support groups for the implementation of mandated Programs, Projects and Activities of SPG and SSG. This training provided them a venue to exercise their leadership skills, collaborative and integrative projects, dynamic, feasible, doable, concrete plan of activities and social innovations for implementation in the schools.

The Schools Division Office of Kalinga under the leadership of Schools Division Superintendent Benilda M. Daytaca, wishes to recognize the programs, projects and activities on drug education.This is in support to one of the 10-point agenda of the Secretary of Education in line with the present administration on addressing the problems on drugs. Thus, special topic on drug education was shared and discussed. The speaker challenged the participants on what they can share and do to have a drug free school institution and the community they are in.

Other topics discussed were as follows: organizational management, health issues and concerns affecting the pupil and students, DepEd vision, mission and core values, servant leadership, powers, duties and responsibilities of SPG and SSG, role of a good teacher, and workshop/action planning.

Speakers of the training were SPO1 Alvius C. Cordero, Dr. Maria Linda G. Gavino, Catherine Lee T. Uera, Evelyn Ganotice, Johny Macababbad and Rickylove Aggalao. On the same event, oath taking ceremony of the established Division-Federated of Teacher-Advisers Association, SPG and SSG Officers Association was conducted during the second day of the training by Evelyn C. Ganotice, Education Program Supervisor-Araling Panlipunan of DepEd Kalinga Division.
